We have one daughter, Teri; son-in-law Jack Loy Watts II, grandson, Jack Loy Watts III; and granddaughter, Sara Watts. Worked for Los Angeles County Engineer for 35 years as a civil engineer in water resources. Retired and have worked as a consultant to the Department of Public Works for the last 18 years.

  Was drafted in March, 1943 at age 18. Trained at Fort Lewis, Wa. as Combat Engineer. After training was sent from Ft. Lewis to Camp Mile Standish, Ma, then on to England on January 17, 1944. On June 8, 1944 landed in Normandy and the ETO.
Saw action as bridge builder and combat soldier in Belgium, France, Holland, Luxemburg, and Germany. Helped bridge Roer and Rhine Rivers. Discharged at Camp Atterbury, In. on December 16, 1945. An experience I won't forget.

Went overseas Jan. 1944 to England. Landed on Omaha Beach July, 6, 1944. Went from France to Belgium, to Holland, and then Germany. Entered the Battle of the Bulge, Dec. 18, 1944. On Feb. 27, 1945 stepped on a landmine with ending result of the loss of both legs below the kneees. April 29, 1945 landed in Charleston, SC. Transferred to Bushnell General Army Hospital in Brigham City, UT for surgeries in perparation for artificial legs. Discharged & walked out of Bushnell on Jan.29th 1946. Married my wife, Harriet, in May 1945. Retired from farming in 1980.
